 LimboThe player guides an unnamed boy through dangerous environments and traps as he searches for his sister. The developer built the game's puzzles expecting the player to fail before finding the correct solution. Playdead called the style of play "trial and death", and used gruesome imagery for the boy's deaths to steer the player from unworkable solutions.

Talos PrincipleThe Talos Principle is a narrative-device puzzle game, played from a first-person perspective, although the Serious Engine also includes the option to switch to a third-person perspective. The player takes the role of a robot with a seemingly human consciousness as they explore a number of environments that include over 120 puzzles.These environments interlock greenery and stone ruins with futuristic technology.
